The Great Train Robbery - Film Review

OUTSTANDING FILM
★★★★★- 5 Stars
The Great Train Robbery is widely considered the first Western. This is probably not true as there were films before it. It is though, in my opinion, the first suspenseful film.
The film opens with a group of bandits assaulting an operator and forcing him to send a telegraph telling the trains to stop. When he does the bandits go and steal money and other items from the train.
What I really want to talk about is the final shot. One of the greatest shots in the history of film. One of the bandits points his gun at the camera and shoots. You can see the smoke and the bandit flinches. The gun is real, too. Props were not as expansive as movie were still a new attraction. The fact that the shot is random but beautiful adds a whole new light to the film.
The film is one of the firsts, yes, but that should not stop you from seeing it. It is a great tale of action and suspense, and no words! It is short so, it should be an easy watch for anyone interested in movies in the western genre.
