OUTSTANDING FILM

This is my first Francois Truffaut film. I didn't even know it existed until about 2 days before I watched it, but I caught it on TCM. I was blown away. The film tells a story about.. well.. just that. A film, "Meet Pamela". Filmmaking itself. Truffaut himself plays the director of the film who is struggling with basic things to get it complete. Everything in the film is basic struggles of movie makers and they show the audience what really goes on behind the scenes.
There is also some romance in there. This is between Alphonse (Jean-Pierre Leaud of 400 Blows fame) and Julie (Jacqueline Bisset) that cause even more struggle to create the film. At one point one quits then the other does and the one before comes back, it's all over. The true beauty of the film comes in the finished result, where it ends exactly where it begins, filming that exact scene where Alphonse kills "that one man". It shows us how all the work you do can lead you right back there. If you want to get into film making, watch this film of films.
